LEGACY PROJECT
The picture of a girl in a T-shirt with a revolutionary print with an AK-47 in front of a typical Soviet bloc.

This style presents an inhabitant of the Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS) as a victim of a constant political instability and stagnation. She (CIS) is tired of being constantly oppressed and under the control of people who are not interested in her and or in moving their country forward. They just rape her shamelessly and dirty. She patiently endured all the scoffing in hopes for a clean-sheet life where progress is indeed possible. Nonetheless, her expectations are never met. Thus she decided to unite people and claim for the entire world that “They are tired of this”
he picture of the girl with a beer-bar and a church in the background.

In one of the residential areas of Chisinau there is a giant condominium of old soviet blocs. On the outside of it you can see a church built into the first floor of the same bloc and the beer-bar presented in the picture. Before the church entrance, there are plenty of large umbrellas with the logo of the “Chisinau” beer printed on them and their slogan “Chisinau beer - always between friends”. I thought this contrast is rather symbolic for our city. One of the girl’s eye is blurry, the eye that is directly above the candle - this image is showing that people choose to ignore the contrast between the church and a bar when they visit the same church. On the other hand, the people that go to drink do not care about the confessions that are practiced outside the bar. Thus, the slogan “The Church of Chisinau - always between friends”
A couple kissing on pipes in a residential area.

There are some crazy people, crazy in a good way if there is any, for whom the grim and gray weekdays along its unpleasant smell from the pipes with waste do not exist. They do not see the grimness, they do not smell the waste and do not pay attention to the drunk neighbor. They only see and care about each other.
There was once a great river that was running through the city - but now the river turned into a smelly creek due to the negligence of the authorities and the toxic waste of factories. Unfortunately, most either do not see this as an issue or do not care. Most don’t care about the ecological catastrophe of this country. Ironically, the name “bic” is used now as a derogatory that is used towards individuals who clearly lack culture and education. Most of those to which this name is applied also do not care about what was once a river. Thus, in this picture you see two “Bics” which reflect the ecological and cultural problems of this country.
Guy with a radio with a factory in the background.

In this particular scenario the factory represents the combination of routine factory jobs combined into one. You might have acquaintances or even friends who are undeniably talented when it comes to art. Whether you`re a musician or designer our field is ruthless - not all of us are lucky to make it. The amount of opportunities is also limited. Thus it can take one ages to reach a stage where no one makes fun of the artist for his or her attempt to prove some intrinsic artistic value. Before one reaches this stage, there are plenty who tell him to quit and find a factory job. Some choose to listen and indeed quit and find a routine job. They do find some financial stability in their new job and thus the option of taking a risk to pursue what one loves stops being viable. Inevitably, those people who chose stability over artistic emancipation loose their individuality and the ability to produce art.
Guy in second-hand clothing.

Nowadays workwear became a necessary part of trends. At the beginning, workwear and all the named brands were no more but simple clothes for people working in construction or factories - eventually the same clothers became Street Wear. During the age when it was impossible to order clothes online due to the absence of infrastructure but also monetary constrains, the best option for shopping became second hand clothing stores. Second Hand stores became the bedrock for the Street Wear culture in the CIS countries. It was the only place where one could purchase clothes that he or she has seen on TV screens. This was time when cultures started to split into subcultures. Every “confession” could find clothing that was appropriate for their own ideology. Whether you`re a skinhead, a rapper or raver - you could find something for yourself in those stores. But regardless to which culture you belong, there was a common thread of wearing “boilersuits”. Carhartt pants, timber boots or a reflective bomber.
